Fall 2017 brings Andrew Lloyd Webber’s award-winning CATS, the 4th longest running show on Broadway! Our 2010 production was an enormous favorite among audiences and cast members alike, up close and personal in our intimate thrust stage. For this production, we introduce our cats and kittens with an innovative and interactive setting. Complete with ramps, surprise entrances and a re-imagined seating arrangement, we will create a fully immersive experience for the audience and their imaginations. With dancing that creates an energetic, fun-filled atmosphere all around, we also hope to infuse the show with the common themes of belonging, identity, and redemption. It will be a “Memory” you want to make!
Our original 2006 production of Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST was one of the premiere amateur performances in the metroplex. In Spring 2018, FMT will once again step into the magical world of this modern classic sensation that has now played to over 35 million people worldwide. The whole family will love the charm of this familiar “tale as old as time” with Belle, the Beast, and all the great characters of the enchanted castle: Cogsworth, Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, Chip, and more! Alan Menken’s fantastic songs like “Gaston”, “Home”, “Belle”, “If I Can’t Love Her”, and “Beauty and the Beast” will come alive with FMT’s signature treatment of strong ensemble singing and dancing, great character acting, and solidly excellent music in every way.
In Summer 2018, we close our epic 25th season with one of the first metroplex amateur stagings of the newly released THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME. With songs from the Disney animated feature at its core (“Out There”, “God Help the Outcasts”, “Topsy Turvy”) and newly composed music by Academy Award-winning team of Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, a new spin on the script embraces the legendary Victor Hugo story of outcasts, love, acceptance, and what it means to be a true hero. Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer of the famed 15th century cathedral, longs for acceptance and freedom but is stifled by Frollo, his devious archdeacon caretaker. The beautiful gypsy Esmeralda and the dashing Captain Phoebus echo this longing as all become entangled in a tragic plot. A grand choral ensemble becomes an additional “lead” in the dynamic story-telling. With what is probably one of the most beautiful epic scores of recent years, the powerful tragic story will sweep you away in what we believe will be an unforgettable theatrical experience.
On April 7, 2018 FMT will bring you an “extra” in the form of our Annual Formal Dinner and Revue. We will present some of our fantastic regular performers in spectacular solos and ensembles that you have come to expect with our one-time Revues. However, for the 25th Anniversary Season we are taking things up a notch to make this a really memorable time by adding a live Big Band Ensemble for your enjoyment. Make plans on joining us for this special one-night event!
